Abstract
La labor de Ricardo Mar como investigador se centra en la arqueología de la arquitectura y de la ciudad histórica. Destaca su trabajo en las ciudades romanas de Ampurias, Barcelona y Tarragona; en Italia ha dirigido proyectos en Pompeya, Ostia y en Roma en la colina del Palatino. Estas experiencias nutren el proyecto español de cooperación para el estudio del urbanismo Inka en la ciudad del Cusco, que Ricardo Mar dirige desde 2010.
La conferencia presenta, por una parte, la fundación del Cusco Inka y su posición en el contexto del urbanismo andino, y por otra, su relación con las teorías sobre el origen de "la ciudad" desarrolladas por la ciencia europea en la primera mitad del siglo XX.

Ricardo Mar's work as a researcher focuses on the archeology of architecture and the historic city. His work in the Roman cities of Ampurias, Barcelona and Tarragona is outstanding. In Italy he has directed projects in Pompeii, Ostia and on the Palatine Hill in Rome. These experiences nurture the Spanish cooperation project for the study of Incan urbanism in the city of Cusco, which Ricardo Mar has directed since 2010.
The conference presents, on the one hand, the foundation of Incan Cusco and its position in the context of Andean urbanism, and on the other, its relationship with the theories on the origin of "the city" developed by European science in the first half of the twentieth century.
