Aufsatz SimBench—A Benchmark Dataset of Electric Power Systems to Compare Innovative Solutions Based on Power Flow Analysis

Meinecke, Steffen; Sarajlić, Džanan; Drauz, Simon Ruben; Klettke, Annika; Lauven, Lars-Peter; Rehtanz, Christian; Moser, Albert; Braun, Martin (2020-06-26)
Publicly accessible, elaborated grid datasets, i.e., benchmark grids, are well suited to publish and compare methods or study results. Similarly, developing innovative tools and algorithms in the fields of grid planning and grid operation is based on grid datasets. Therefore, a general methodology to generate benchmark datasets and its voltage level dependent implementation is described in this paper. As a result, SimBench, a comprehensive dataset for the low, medium, high and extra-high voltage level, is presented. ...

Aufsatz On the Automation of Flood Event Separation From Continuous Time Series

Oppel, Henning; Mewes, Benjamin (2020-07-28)
Can machine learning effectively lower the effort necessary to extract important information from raw data for hydrological research questions? On the example of a typical water-management task, the extraction of direct runoff flood events from continuous hydrographs, we demonstrate how machine learning can be used to automate the application of expert knowledge to big data sets and extract the relevant information. In particular, we tested seven different algorithms to detect event beginning and end solely from a ...

Aufsatz Experimentelle Untersuchung zur Mehrphasenströmung in öleingespritzten Mehrphasenschraubenspindelpumpen

Lottis, Marian; Deeb, Mohammad; Luke, Andrea (2020-02-18)

Aufsatz Integrated reporting of environmental, social, and governance and financial data: Does the market value integrated reports?

Landau, Alexander; Rochell, Janina; Klein, Christian; Zwergel, Bernhard (2020-01-09)
The concept of reporting nonfinancial information within the annual report, so‐called Integrated Reporting (IR) is a rising topic in reporting practice. Supporters claim that IR provides a better view regarding the value creation of a firm. This study investigates the value relevance of IR and the influence of certain characteristics such as assurance. Thus, this paper contributes to the existing literature by examining the actual advantages for firms when adopting an IR approach. The Ohlson model is applied ...

Aufsatz Sustainability assessment of activated carbon from residual biomass used for micropollutant removal at a full-scale wastewater treatment plant

Joseph, Ben; Kätzl, Korbinian; Hensgen, Frank; Schäfer, Bernhard; Wachendorf, Michael (2020-05-29)
Activated carbon (AC), used for removal of organic micropollutants in European wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), is usually produced from non-renewable resources that need to be transported over long distances. Utilising local residual biomass as a raw material may be advantageous in terms of sustainability. This study investigated the environmental and energy balances of using biowaste and biomass from landscape management for micropollutant removal at a commercial scale WWTP. Both residual biomasses were processed ...

Aufsatz Mode properties of telecom wavelength InP-based high-(Q/V) L4/3 photonic crystal cavities

Rickert, Lucas; Fritsch, Bert; Kors, Andrei; Reithmaier, Johann Peter; Benyoucef, Mohamed (2020-05-13)
We present finite-difference time domain simulations and optical characterizations via micro-photoluminescence measurements of InP-based L4/3 photonic crystal cavities with embedded quantum dots (QDs) and designed for the M1 ground mode to be emitting at telecom C-band wavelengths. The simulated M1 Q-factor values exceed 106, while the M1 mode volume is found to be 0.33 × (λ/n)3, which is less than half the value of the M1 mode volume of a comparable L3 cavity. Low-temperature micro-photoluminescence measurements ...

Aufsatz Indicators of Affect Dynamics: Structure, Reliability, and Personality Correlates

Wendt, Leon P.; Wright, Aidan G. C.; Pilkonis, Paul A.; Woods, William C.; Denissen, Jaap J. A.; Kühnel, Anja; Zimmermann, Johannes (2020-07-21)
Researchers are increasingly interested in the affect dynamics of individuals for describing and explaining personality and psychopathology. Recently, the incremental validity of more complex indicators of affect dynamics (IADs; e.g. autoregression) has been called into question (Dejonckheere et al., 2019), with evidence accumulating that these might convey little unique information beyond mean level and general variability of emotions. Our study extends the evidence for the construct validity of IADs by investigating ...

Aufsatz Morphologically similar but not closely related: the long-sporedspecies of Subulicystidium (Trechisporales, Basidiomycota)

Ordynets, Alexander; Liebisch, Robert; Lysenko, Ludmila; Scherf, David; Volobuev, Sergey; Saitta, Alessandro; Larsson, Karl-Henrik; Yurchenko, Eugene; Buyck, Bart; Bolshakov, Sergey; Langer, Ewald (2020-06-06)
Species boundaries and geographic distribution of corticioid fungi (resupinate Basidiomycota) are often poorly known. Ourrecent study onSubulicystidiumshowed that species diversity in this genus is at least twice as high as previously recognized. Thisre-estimation of the species diversity was based on a study of only a part of the genus. The present study sheds light on molecularand morphological diversity of three more species. We generated 27 ITS and 24 28S nuclear ribosomal DNA sequences from 49specimens labelled ...

Aufsatz Psychosocial Interventions for Newly Arrived Adolescent Refugees: A Systematic Review

Hettich, Nora; Seidel, Franziska Anna; Stuhrmann, Lydia Yao (2020-02-25)
Adolescent refugees are confronted with multiple developmental, psychological, and social challenges after flight. Psychosocial interventions are therefore necessary to support adolescents during the first period after arrival in a receiving country and to avoid negative long-term consequences. Unfortunately, little is known about the types and the effects of such interventions provided during this time. This systematic review aimed to synthesize research about psychosocial interventions for refugee youth during the ...

Aufsatz Using CFD Modelling to Relate Pig Lying Locations to Environmental Variability in Finishing Pens

Jackson, Paul; Nasirahmadi, Abozar; Guy, Jonathan H.; Bull, Steve; Avery, Peter J.; Edwards, Sandra A.; Sturm, Barbara (2020-03-03)
The purpose of this research was to determine which environmental factors within the pen space differ between the locations where pigs choose to lie and areas they avoid. Data on external weather engconditions and the construction parameters for an existing commercial finishing pig building were input into a Dynamic Thermal (DT) model generating heat flow and surface temperature patterns in the structure and these were then input into a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model to generate data on the theoretical ...
