Entrepreneurial Coaching: A Two‐Dimensional Framework in Context
(2020-05-08)
Coaching is increasingly used to support entrepreneurs across different stages of the entrepreneurial process. Due to its custom‐tailored, active, and reflection‐oriented approach, it has been suggested that it is particularly well suited to entrepreneurs’ complex job demands. However, in the entrepreneurial context, the term coaching lacks a clear definition and is frequently used interchangeably with other types of support. We therefore sought to characterize entrepreneurial coaching (EC) and to position it relative ...

How does self-employment affect pension income? A comparative analysis of European welfare states
(2020-12-03)
The characteristics of self-employment in Europe have changed profoundly in the last decades. The share of solo self-employment has grown and individuals combine more frequently dependent employment with self-employment at the same time, or more often switch between dependent employment and self-employment. These developments heavily affect the pensions of the self-employed and therefore present a challenge for the old-age security systems of European welfare states. So far, there has been little comparative research ...

Phospholipids containing ether-bound hydrocarbon-chains are essential for efficient phagocytosis and neutral lipids of the ester-type perturb development in Dictyostelium
(2020-07-16)
Lipids are the building blocks for cellular membranes; they provide signalling molecules for membrane dynamics and serve as energy stores. One path of their synthesis is initiated by glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase (GPAT), which in Dictyostelium resides on the endoplasmic reticulum. When an excess of fatty acids is present, it redistributes to storage organelles, the lipid droplets. Mutants, where the GPAT was eliminated by homologous recombination, produce fewer lipid droplets and are almost devoid of ...

Effects of morphology in controlling propagation of density currents in a reservoir using uncalibrated three-dimensional hydrodynamic modeling
(2020-04-29)
In this study, effects of basin morphology are shown to affect density current hydrodynamics of a large reservoir using a three-dimensional (3D) hydrodynamic model that is validated (but not calibrated) with in situ observational data. The AEM3D hydrodynamic model was applied for 5-month simulations during winter and spring flooding for the Maroon reservoir in southwest Iran, where available observations indicated that large-scale density currents had previously occurred. The model results were validated with near-bottom ...

On the Impact of Texture and Grain Size on the Pseudoelastic Properties of Polycrystalline Fe–Ni–Co–Al–Ti Alloy
(2020-05-08)
The effects of thermomechanical treatments on crystallographic texture and grain size evolution and their impact on the pseudoelastic properties in Fe41–Ni28–Co17–Al11.5–Ti2.5 (at.%) were studied in the present paper. The results show that cold rolling leads to brass-type texture in this alloy, which is typical for low stacking fault energy materials. Thermal treatments up to 1300 °C were conducted and it is shown that the presence of β-phase helps to control grain growth. After the dissolution of the secondary phase ...

A Critical Review and Assessment of Different Thermoviscoplastic Material Models for Simultaneous Hot/Cold Forging Analysis
(2020-05-26)
The simultaneous hot/cold forging is an innovative production process, taking advantage of the high accuracy for cold forming and low forces for hot forming. However, the choice of a suitable material model for such a large temperature range is a difficult issue and insufficiently regarded. Hence, the aim of this contribution is a critical review and assessment of the prediction capability and accuracy of three already existing thermo-viscoplasticity models. Therefore, the simulation results of the Bammann, Chiesa ...

Agricultural Development and Land Use Change in India: A Scenario Analysis of Trade‐Offs Between UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
(2020-01-15)
India has the second largest population in the world and is characterized by a broad diversity in climate, topography, flora, fauna, land use, and socioeconomic conditions. To help ensure food security in the future, agricultural systems will have to respond to global change drivers such as population growth, changing dietary habits, and climate change. However, alterations of how food is produced in the future may conflict with other UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as the protection of land resources ...

SimBench—A Benchmark Dataset of Electric Power Systems to Compare Innovative Solutions Based on Power Flow Analysis
(2020-06-26)
Publicly accessible, elaborated grid datasets, i.e., benchmark grids, are well suited to publish and compare methods or study results. Similarly, developing innovative tools and algorithms in the fields of grid planning and grid operation is based on grid datasets. Therefore, a general methodology to generate benchmark datasets and its voltage level dependent implementation is described in this paper. As a result, SimBench, a comprehensive dataset for the low, medium, high and extra-high voltage level, is presented. ...

On the Automation of Flood Event Separation From Continuous Time Series
(2020-07-28)
Can machine learning effectively lower the effort necessary to extract important information from raw data for hydrological research questions? On the example of a typical water-management task, the extraction of direct runoff flood events from continuous hydrographs, we demonstrate how machine learning can be used to automate the application of expert knowledge to big data sets and extract the relevant information. In particular, we tested seven different algorithms to detect event beginning and end solely from a ...
