Die Synthese planar-chiraler 1,1´–Diaminoferrocenderivate
(2024)

City Development Regimes in-the-Making. Phronetic Analysis of Governance, Networks and Power in Cairo, 2011-2022
(2024)
Since the revolutionary uprising of January 2011, Cairo’s inner-city neighbourhoods have undergone rapid spatial transformations. Over the last decade, numerous old housing buildings have been replaced by modern ones, leading to the displacement of residents to the desert cities or newly-constructed neighbourhoods outside the city centre. The most remarkable transformations occurred since early 2018. Notably, these changes have been characterised by a fast implementation rate and a lack of community resistance to ...

Existence and Asymptotic Behavior of Solutions to the Time-Periodic Navier-Stokes Equations in a Layer Domain with Nonhomogeneous Boundary Data
(2024)
This dissertation is dedicated to the analysis of the Navier-Stokes equations in a timeperiodic framework in the so-called layer domain Π = R2 × (0, 1), described by:
∂tu − νΔu + (u · ∇)u + ∇p = f in [0, T] × Π,
div u = 0 in [0, T] × Π,
u|∂Π = a for all t ∈ [0, T] ,
u|t=0 = u|t=T in Π.
The velocity field u and the pressure p are unknowns, while the external force f is prescribed. Challenges arise due to unboundedness of the layer Π and from introduction of a nonhomogeneous boundary condition a. The investigated ...

Begriff und Psychodynamik des Scheiterns aus psychoanalytischer Sicht am Beispiel des „König Lear Opern Projekts“ von Giuseppe Verdi
(2024)

Plant growth, water quality, carbon and nutrient flows in rural-urban cropping systems of Bengaluru, India
(2024)
The global urban population is expected to reach 5.2 billion by 2030 and by mid-2023 approximately 4.6 billion out of more than 8 billion population were living in towns or cities. This represents approximately 57% of the total global population and is set to reach 60% by 2030. India’s urban population is expected to reach 607 million by 2030 and by mid-2030 40% of the total population will be living in urban areas. Growing urban population has multi-sectoral and dimensional implications in the rural, peri-urban, and ...

Testing the Impact of Large-scale Digital Support on Students' Paths Toward College Education
(2024-02)
Increasing the share of college graduates can boost productivity, promote social mobility, and improve well-being. However, these benefits are often realized when the education system satisfies the demands of the industry. Otherwise, society may face skill shortages. This thesis aims to expand the understanding of how to attract students, particularly minorities, to pursue academic majors linked to the areas facing skill shortages (henceforth, high-rewarding majors). To accomplish this, it examines the impact of ...

Biochemical Characterization of Microtubule-Associated Serine/Threonine Kinases
(2023)
The association of human microtubule-associated serine/threonine (MAST) kinases with different diseases, such as neurodevelopmental disorders and cancer, leads to hight interest in understanding the function of these understudied kinases. This PhD thesis provides the first consolidated biochemical analysis of three different human MAST kinases (MAST1-3) and the Drosophila melanogaster homologue drop out protein (DOP).

Evaluation of efficacy of homeopathic and antibiotic treatment in scientific research and practice with focus on bovine mastitis
(2024)
The use of homeopathy and antibiotics in treatment have the same goal: to cure a diseased individual. The first choice should be the most effective treatment and only a repeated treatment success will justify its use. If the chosen treatment is not effective, unnecessary suffering of diseased animals, spreading of disease or chronification of mastitis will be the result. Additionally, in case of antibiotic use, an ineffective use will select and promote the prevalence of multi-resistant bacteria in the environment, ...

Modeling analysis of 21st century climate change projections and their impacts on the hydrology of the Karaj-Jajrood basin, Iran
(2023-12)
Two main rivers, Karaj and Jajrood which provide metropolitan Tehrans’ water, flow in Alborz and Tehran province, respectively. In the last decades, the impact of climate change on temperature and precipitation is tangible in these two provinces. For the Karaj-Jajrood basin, during the period 2003-2012, the minimum temperature increased by 1°C, the maximum temperature by 0.6°C and precipitation decreased by -7%, relative to the average of 1972-2012.
To assess climate change impacts in the region, the Statistical ...
