(2021-05-12)
The synthesis of glycerolipids starts with the acylation of lipid backbones. Two structurally different glycerolipids emerge in the cell: ether-lipids and ester-lipids. In the case of ether-lipids the first fatty acid is substituted with a fatty alcohol inside the peroxisome. By the characterization of the protein FARAT in this thesis, a key enzyme in etherlipid-synthesis was identified for D. discoideum. FARAT shows a peroxisomal localization and is in principle able to do two jobs. Firstly, it initiates the peroxisomal ...

What Do Coaches Actually Do? A Context-Sensitive Approach to Workplace Coaching
(2021)

Morphological and functional examination of neuropeptides in the circadian system of Rhyparobia maderae with special focus on myoinhibitory peptides
(2021)

Identity Formation, Economic Development, and Local Activism: A Postcolonial Approach of Heritage Preservation in Taipei City, Taiwan
(2021)
This study adopts a postcolonial approach to scrutinise the policies and practices of heritage preservation in Taipei City, Taiwan. Postcolonial theory provides an analytical framework that destabilises the dominating discourses of urban development from a subaltern perspective. It interrogates how ordinary people have the capacity to appropriate urban spaces through the practices of everyday life, thereby claiming their rights to the living environment. In this sense, I argue that urban heritage is a social construction. ...

Robustness of portable and laboratory-based visible/near- and mid-infrared spectroscopy for optimized determination of temporally and spatially variable soil properties
(2021)
Application of visible/near- (VISNIRS) and mid-infrared (MIRS) spectroscopy to the field of soil science is promising, as it allows information about a range of properties to be collected simultaneously and rapidly, thereby providing high spatial and temporal resolution data for use in, e.g., soil mapping, precision agriculture, and long-term monitoring. However, investigation of the conditions under which visNIRS and MIRS can replace traditional lab methods is required, as the accuracy, robustness, and efficiency ...

Green food consumption: Studies on consumers’ purchase intentions and the intention-behaviour gap in the Chinese context
(2021)
With the growing problem of the global environment and exposure to various food safety incidents, consumers are increasingly concerned about the environment as well as the safety and quality of food products. Therefore, growing calls for safe, healthy, environmentally friendly, and sustainable food consumption have been growing. As one of China’s most successful ecolabelling programs, green food has shown great potential for further expansion among Chinese food consumption. This doctoral research has taken consumers’ ...

Safety Approach of Detecting Abnormal Events (Spinning and Sliding) in Vehicular Systems
(2021)
The primary theme in the vehicles industry is the increase in automating and integrating more robust intelligent electronic systems to enhance the safe functioning, flexibility, and to extend the virtual productive age of the vehicular systems. Further, significant efforts focus on developing monitoring systems for the abnormal driving conditions such as wheel spinning and sliding that can increase the hazardous in the operating environment and speed up the wearing off process. Thus, these events play a primary role ...

Kodieren als Beruf
(2021)
