Aufsatz "Diese körperlichen Geschichten sind gar nicht das Problem" - Zum Professionalisierungsbedarf in der Inklusiven Erwachsenenbildung

Bonna, Franziska; Stobrawe, Helge; Hirschberg, Marianne (2019)

Aufsatz Cross-Cultural Variations in Consumer Behavior: A Literature Review of International Studies

Timokhina, Galina; Wagner, Ralf; Ürkmez, Taylan (2018)
This study presents a review of 85 peer-reviewed publications of cross-cultural variations in consumer behavior. The objectives of this study are to systemize conceptual and methodological approaches to research of cross-cultural variations in consumer behavior; to present an extended understanding of consumer behavior in related industries; to identify conceptual and methodological gaps and empirical issues in these studies; and by fulfilling the objective of this paper to develop an agenda guiding further research ...

Aufsatz On the track of human errors - Procedure and results of an innovative assembly planning method

Refflinghaus, Robert; Kern, Christian (2018-03-07)
Manual assembly operations are the endmost place of the production process and with it represent a melting pot for organizational, time-related and qualitative errors of manufacturing. Because competitive advantages are increasingly determined in the manual assembly, the creation of economical and reliable work steps is of fundamental importance for future business success. For that reason, at the institute of the authors, a procedure has been developed to use the knowledge of the Expert System for Task Taxonomy that ...

Aufsatz Goal realization: An empirically based comparison between English, German and Greek

Georgakopoulos, Thanasis; Härtl, Holden; Sioupi, Athina (2018)
Drawing upon recent insights into the role of Goal preference as reflector of cross-linguistic differences, this paper investigates the factors affecting the realization of Goals in motion event descriptions. In particular, it examines the interplay between the lexicalization pattern of a language, on the one hand, and grammatical viewpoint aspect, on the other – factors which have commonly been treated in isolation. In so doing, three typologically distinct languages were examined: English, German and Greek. The ...

Aufsatz How digitalization changes the internationalization of entrepreneurial firms: theoretical considerations and empirical evidence

Wittkop, Andreas; Zulauf, Katrin; Wagner, Ralf (2018)
The internationalization of firms has mainly been analyzed and explained by considering observations in a pre-digital business environment. Thus, the applicability of the internationalization theories to digital ways of conducting business needs to be challenged. Recent research on the internationalization of digital firms attempts to adapt existing international business literature to the digital market. However, these studies consider internet-based companies predominantly as a homogeneous group. It is a popular ...

Aufsatz Symbolic versus non-symbolic magnitude estimations among children and adults

Ebersbach, Mirjam; Erz, Petra (2014-07-30)
The ability of children and adults to generate symbolic and non-symbolic magnitude estimations was examined in the light of their familiarity with numbers. Children (6-year-old kindergartners, 7-year-old first graders, and 9-year-old third graders) and adults made symbolic estimations either by saying number words that matched numbers of dots (i.e., perception task) or by generating numbers of dots that matched given number words (i.e., production task). In the non-symbolic estimation task, participants generated the ...

Aufsatz Mental rotation and the motor system: Embodiment head over heels

Krüger, Markus; Amorim, Michel-Ange; Ebersbach, Mirjam (2013-12-13)
We examined whether body parts attached to abstract stimuli automatically force embodiment in a mental rotation task. In Experiment 1, standard cube combinations reflecting a human pose were added with (1) body parts on anatomically possible locations, (2) body parts on anatomically impossible locations, (3) colored end cubes, and (4) simple end cubes. Participants (N = 30) had to decide whether two simultaneously presented stimuli, rotated in the picture plane, were identical or not. They were fastest and made less ...

Aufsatz “Reasonable Accommodation” and “Accessibility”: Human Rights Instruments Relating to Inclusion and Exclusion in the Labor Market

Hirschberg, Marianne; Papadopoulos, Christian (2016-01-06)
Ableism is a powerful social force that causes persons with disabilities to suffer exclusion. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is based on the human rights principles of equality and freedom for all people. This Convention contains two human rights instruments: the principle of accessibility and the means of reasonable accommodation, which can be used to protect the human rights of disabled persons. The extent to which they are used depends on whether the state implements the ...

Aufsatz Ereigniskonzeptualisierung im Zweitspracherwerb - Thinking for Speaking im Vergleich von Muttersprachlern und Lernern

Bepperling, Svenja; Härtl, Holden (2013)
The grammatical categories of our language can influence how we concep-tualize situations and events (Slobin 1996). A variety of studies have investigated the influence of grammatical aspect on event conceptualization and found language-specific perspectivation strategies (Stutterheim 2012): Speakers of languages with grammaticized aspect preferentially focus on dynamic event components, while speakers of non-aspect languages conceptualize events holistically by including an inferable resultant state in their ...

Aufsatz Semantic congruency and the (reversed) Colavita effect in children and adults

Wille, Claudia; Ebersbach, Mirjam (2016)
When presented with auditory, visual, or bimodal audiovisual stimuli in a discrimination task, adults tend to ignore the auditory component in bimodal stimuli and respond to the visual component only (i.e., Colavita visual dominance effect). The same is true for older children, whereas young children are dominated by the auditory component of bimodal audiovisual stimuli. This suggests a change of sensory dominance during childhood. The aim of the current study was to investigate, in three experimental conditions, ...
