Elucidation of Chemical Reaction Pathways in Cementitious Materials
(kassel university press, 2020)
The foremost objective of this research is to improve the fundamental knowledge of the early hydration mechanisms of Portland cement and the carbonation of the hydration product portlandite by the combinational approach of computer modeling and laboratory experiments. The approach started with an in-depth understanding of the dissolution mechanism of C3S and C2S immediately in contact with water and followed by the polymerization mechanism of silicates (the building block of C-S-H) under the influence of external ...

Advanced theory of optical wave propagation and interferometric sensors for topography measurement
(kassel university press, 2020)
This manuscript provides a compendium for the application of the nonuniform wave model to standard problems of two beam interference and addresses common educational issues associated with wave propagation at attenuating interfaces. It also reports scientific advances in interferometric applications focusing on an interferometric point sensor with optical path length modulation and an areal measuring RGB-interferometer for fast topography measurements in the sub millisecond regime.

Bundesfachtagung Naturschutzrecht 2021
(kassel university press, 2023)
In verschiedenen Vorträgen ...

3D-hydrodynamisch-numerische Untersuchungen des Geschiebetransports in Verzweigungsgerinnen
(kassel university press, 2023)

Quantum Technology using Cold Diatomic Molecular Ions: Interferometry and Cooling
(kassel university press, 2023)
Atoms and atomic ions have proved to be useful as quantum technological systems, where atomic clocks are one of the more famous implementations. Molecules, with more degrees of freedom (vibrations and rotations) are considered as natural extensions to atomic systems. In particular, we study cold molecular diatomic ions as systems for implementation in quantum technology and in particular the rotational degree of freedom of such molecular ions. Quantum effects manifest themselves at very cold temperatures. To reach ...

Modeling Static Grid Equivalent with Artificial Neural Networks Including Optimally Designed Local Reactive Power Control
(kassel university press, 2024)
During the energy system transition, the rapid increase in distributed energy resources (DERs) can cause grid congestion problems in power grids, such as voltage problems and overloads. It has become increasingly important to intelligently control the provision of reactive power from DERs to power grids, which not only stabilizes voltage, reduces loading and grid losses, but also provides reactive power flexibility to different points in power grids. As power grids are interconnected and operated by different grid ...

Improving the Security-Constrained Operative Planning of Flexibilities in Distribution Grids Using Artificial Intelligence and High-Performance Grid Calculation
(kassel university press, 2024)
The penetration from renewable distributed energy resources (DERs) such as wind and solar massively increases the risk of grid congestions on transmission lines/transformers and voltage violations. To guarantee grid security, the operators must perform grid congestion management (GCM), e.g., with active power curtailment from DERs in the operative planning and real-time phases. Compared to the real-time GCM, for grid operative
planning, grid congestions must be identified through forecasting-based grid simulations. ...
