This understanding is absolutely central to Coseriu’s system of linguistic competence, whose core are the rules and traditions that govern language use. Pragmatics is thus not a discipline focused on the analysis of specific linguistic structures of the language system (langue), but rather a perspective on language (Verschueren 1995: 11, 2009: 14–16) that explores its use and its potential in speaking as an activity and form of human behavior. | eng |
