Der interkulturelle Auftrag der Bildungsstätten für Europa nach 1992: Zur berufsqualifizierenden Fremdsprachenkompetenz des Euroschülers

The article describes an empirical project that explores educational and linguistic needs for Europe after 1992. Two complementary approaches are combined in order to find out about the particular qualifications needed for the future vocational and occupational life of the "Eurostudent". Emphasis is laid on "Eurocompetence" including intercultural competence. The article gives preliminary results of,first, an empirical study dealing with the economic changes and their effect on needs and demands in industry and commerce and, second, a scientific inquiry into the generation that will be the first to begin vocational training in Europe after 1992. The main aspects of this second inquiry are attitudes towards Europe, towards English language courses and towards English as a foreign language.
