Dezentrale Ventilatoren in zentralen raumlufttechnischen Anlagen - Berechnungen zur energetischen Vorteilhaftigkeit
(Decentralized Fans in Central HVAC Systems - Calculation of the Energetic Benefit)
Abstract
Mechanical ventilation systems are an important element of energy-efficient and sustainable buildings. In central ventilation systems usually a central supply air fan and a central exhaust air fan are used to ensure the required airflow. Each fan generates a pressure difference that is determined by the duct with the highest resistance. To distribute the total air flow to the different building areas, the pressure difference in the ducts is selectively throttled. The throttling is a kind of energy loss without a direct benefit and should at least theoretically be avoided. The approach presented here is meant to make air transport in central HVAC systems more energy-efficient through the use of decentralized fans. The pressure difference required for air transport is created through decentralized fans in the amount and at the location it is needed. Thus throttling by dampers or other throttle bodies is no longer required. Initial calculations indicate a significant energy-saving potential which ranges from 10 to 40 % for typical usages. Due to energy savings and excellent control capabilities of the decentralized fan system a high user acceptance can be expected.
