Conference 65 in the lecture series "Academic Culture", that invites each week an outstanding Peruvian or international architect colleague. The theme of each lecture is based on the studies, master's or doctoral thesis, always excellent, developed by this colleague; each presentation includes a reflection of the process of gestation of these works.
In this way, Cultura Académica offers the opportunity to learn a lot: about the subject treated as well as about the conception and realization of a high level scientific work in practice.
JOHN F. C. TURNER EN PERÚ
Revisitando y reactivando ideas de autoayuda y autoconstrucción
(JOHN F. C. TURNER IN PERU / Revisiting and reactivating ideas of self-help and self-construction.)

The conference, based on the collaboration with Turner and a work of reactivation of urban memory in Turnerian neighborhoods, presents aspects of his legacy little known and worthy of serving as a basis for new readings of Peruvian urbanism and in particular of the self-built neighborhoods of Lima. It invites us to explore Turner's holistic gaze with a view to what it can contribute to imagining the collectively managed and sustainable development of a multitude of neighborhoods now expanding in natural areas and over pre-Hispanic roads - reactivating place-making processes from the neighborhoods themselves.
