Abstract
Christiana Mariana von Ziegler wurde am 29. Juni 1695 als erstes von acht Kindern in Leipzig geboren.2 Sechs ihrer Geschwister verlor sie zwischen ihrem zweiten und neunten Lebensjahr, nur sie und ihr zweitjüngster Bruder Franz Wilhelm erreichten das Erwachsenenalter. Ihre Eltern, Franz Conrad Romanus (1671-1746) und Christiana Maria Brummer (1674-1739), stammten aus der Leipziger Führungsschicht wohlhabender Handelsherren und Universitätsgelehrter. Um das Jahr 1736 war Ziegler eine der bekanntesten Frauen Deutschlands. Sie war nicht nur 'im Stillen' dichterisch tätig, sondern beteiligte sich mit Veröffentlichungen an den gelehrten Diskursen ihrer Zeit. Bereits 1730 war sie für ihre Verdienste um die deutsche Dichtung in die Leipziger Deutsche Gesellschaft aufgenommen worden und blieb deren einziges weibliches MitChristiana Mariana von Ziegler Mitglied. In ihrer Geburtsstadt Leipzig war sie Initiatorin und Mittelpunkt eines literarisch-musikalischen Salons. Der Höhepunkt ihres Ruhmes war die Verleihung der Würde der poeta laureata caesarea, der kaiserlich gekrönten Poetin, im Oktober 1733 durch die Universität Wittenberg. Für eine Frau ihrer Zeit hatte sie ungewöhnliche Erfolge, mußte dafür aber auch persönliche Verluste und Anfeindungen hinnehmen.
