Chemical gas sensors based on functionalized self-actuated piezo-resistive cantilevers
Abstract
Abstract
This thesis is focused on the application of functionalized microcantilevers with integrated read-out and actuation for chemical gas sensors, which are capable to fast, portable, and low-cost detection and recognition of different volatile analytes. Special attention is paid to the improvement of the microcantilever transducer performance by operating the cantilevers at peculiar modes. Another important emphasis is consideration of specific sorption interactions and application of novel functionalization coatings, which contribute significantly to the sensor selectivity.
