LA CASA SEÑORIAL HUAMANGUINA
Un tipo de vivienda virreinal
(THE MANOR HOUSE OF HUAMANGA / A type of colonial dwelling)
Abstract

The blocks of the checkerboard of Huamanga were divided into four lots, assigning those near to the Plaza de Armas to the most distinguished neighbors: it is there where the type of manor house of Huamanga is wrought. The participation of local builders gave rise – guided by Spanish masters – to a constructive and architectural miscegenation of the Mediterranean and the Andean.
The conference will illustrate this type of colonial housing in the Huamanguino urban, social and cultural context based on various examples from the initial period of the viceroyalty and the founding of the city.
