Conference 72 in the lecture series "Academic Culture", that invites each week an outstanding Peruvian or international architect colleague. The theme of each lecture is based on the studies, master's or doctoral thesis, always excellent, developed by this colleague; each presentation includes a reflection of the process of gestation of these works.
In this way, Cultura Académica offers the opportunity to learn a lot: about the subject treated as well as about the conception and realization of a high level scientific work in practice.

Abstract

Since its beginnings, Lima's living space, established in the extension of the Atacama Desert, has had a very particular relationship with water. This relationship has been forged materially through the transformation of the territory for the capture of this resource - and also culturally through the knowledge acquired by its inhabitants over the centuries.
In his lecture, Abel Traslaviña presents, from the analysis of historical aerial photographs, elements for the understanding of the different manifestations of this relationship of pre-colonial Lima with water through time.
