Do spatial climate messages increase pro-environmental engagement? Evidence from a survey experiment on public transport
(2022)
Using a survey experiment among a special sample composed of art house cinema visitors, we investigate whether spatial climate messages increase subjects’ willingness to pay for an inclusion of public transport fares in cinema tickets as well as their willingness to use public transport in case such a combined ticket is introduced. Based on previous findings, we expect emphasizing the positive impact of public transport usage on the local level to have a greater effect on subjects’ preferences for public transport ...

The First Informationexplosion
(2022-06-20)
The paper places punch card technology in the context of the office machine industry in Germany and discusses the exciting relationship between the two competitors on the market for punch card technology, Dehomag and Powers, in Germany. The question is whether the leading role of the United States in the use of office machines frequently cited by Anglo-American authors really applies. How punch card technology in Germany has advanced from its beginnings is discussed under the heading of rationalisation strategies. ...

Nominal Science without Data
(2022-09-28)
Expanding upon literature on early digital computers, this paper shows the role mathematicians have undertaken in founding the academic fields of Game Theory and Operations Research, and details how they were supported by the mathematics departments of military agencies in branches of the US Armed Services. This paper claims that application is only decoration. Other than astronomy, physics and engineering, where experiments generate data analysed with the aid of models and appropriate software on computers, Game ...

One Way Logistics in Freight Transport
(2022)
The European railroad companies founded the International Container Bureau in Paris in 1933. The Swiss company Hupac successfully developed container transport with transalpine freight transport by rail between Germany and Italy. In the 1930s, Europe and the U.S. had agreed on a common ISO standard for 20 foot containers and 40 foot containers, so that empty containers could be exchanged between the various shipping companies in the global supply chains. But this standard is not compatible with the metric system of ...

The Implications of Feedback Frequency for Employee Creativity
(2022)
Managers are still floundering when they have to decide on the optimal level of feedback frequency; either when they consider themselves as a source of feedback, but also when they shape the feedback environment of their employees, e.g., by allowing more (or less) frequent customer feedback. Furthermore, given that feedback is a time-consuming task, managers might be reluctant to provide feedback frequently, foregoing a potentially powerful lever for increasing employee creativity. Ultimately, clarifying the ambiguities ...

Consumers ’ perception of sustainable packaging in the food industry: An online experiment
(2022-01)
Consumers evaluate products and make purchasing decisions based on packaging and its sustainable aspects. This research investigated how different packages and their quality, eco-friendliness, expensiveness, and convenience affected consumers’ intentions to purchase. Our sample comprised 299 French consumers of muesli cereals. We conducted an online choice experiment to analyze and measure consumers’ perception of sustainable packaging, comparing three distinct experimental groups. Findings revealed that quality and ...
