Romance and the ozone layer: panel evidence on green behavior in couples
(2022-02-03)
The exploration of the drivers of interpersonal alignment processes in romantic partners is particularly relevant to policies that promote green behavior because social anchoring in families and relationships can undermine effective behavioral change. The present paper aims to investigate the role important life events, such as childbirth, marriage, and the acquisition of real estate, in explaining the alignment of pro-environmental behavior within couples over time. The adoption of a life-course perspective is a ...

Taking stock of the field of populism research: Are ideational approaches ‘moralistic’ and postfoundational discursive approaches ‘normative’?
(2021-04-23)
This article sets out to examine two claims that have increasingly come to define the dividing lines between the ideational and the post-foundational discursive approaches to populism: namely, that the former is moralistic and the latter is normative in orientation. The article considers the conceptual merits of both critiques while using them to further examine some of the implicit assumptions and pitfalls within Cas Mudde’s and Ernesto Laclau’s paradigmatic conceptualizations of populism. It is argued that ideational ...

Weight estimations with time-reversed point-light displays
(2020-11-24)
Interpreting other’s actions is a very important ability not only in social life, but also in interactive sports. Previous experiments have demonstrated good estimation performances for the weight of lifted objects through point-light displays. The basis for these performances is commonly assigned to the concept of motor simulation regarding observed actions. In this study, we investigated the weak version of the motor simulation hypothesis which claims that the goal of an observed action strongly influences its ...

(2022-08-01)
Rezension zu: Siegfried Greif: Was ist Coaching? Wissenschaftliche Grundlagen und praktische Methoden. Hamburg: Tredition, 2021, 228 S., 29,50 €. //

Land cover transitions and effects of transhumance on available forage biomass of rangelands in Benin
(2021-11-30)
This study examined the effects of transhumance pressure on total abavoe-ground biomass and forage availability on rangelands in Benin. We also investigated the implications of land cover transitions on rangelands over a 31-year period. Our work was carried out in three regions of Benin representing distinct phytogeographic regimes: Ketou, Tchaourou, and Sinende. Ground-truthing and biomass sampling of the herbaceous and phanaerophyte strata were carried out between the 2016 peak vegetation period and the onset of ...

Microbial carbon use efficiency of litter with distinct C/N ratios in soil at different temperatures, including microbial necromass as growth component
(2022-08-10)
An incubation study was carried out to investigate the effects of litter quality, i.e. ¹⁵ N-labelled maize (C/N of 25.5) and Rhodes grass (C/N of 57.8) leaf litter on microbial carbon use efficiency (CUE) and priming effects in a moderate alkaline soil at two different temperatures (15 and 25 °C). CUE values were calculated from the isotopic composition of the particulate organic matter (POM) recovered as an index for the amount of non-decomposed litter. This approach allows the inclusion of microbial necromass growth ...
