Phylogenetische und morphologische Untersuchungen der Gattung Palifer (Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota)
(2019-06)
The Hyphodontia s.l. genus Palifer has only been phylogenetically examined by one available ribosomal ITS and LSU sequence from GenBank. This Palifer verecundus sequence indicates a position of Palifer among Xylodon. During the studies for the presented master thesis 15 new ITS and 11 LSU sequences have been generated including Palifer gamundiae, P. hjortstamii, P. wrightii, and P. verecundus. The most successful combination of primer pairs was ITS5/ITS2 and ITS3/ALR0 for ITS amplification. The LSU region was amplified ...

Cross-Cultural Variations in Consumer Behavior: A Literature Review of International Studies
(2018)
This study presents a review of 85 peer-reviewed publications of cross-cultural variations in consumer behavior. The objectives of this study are to systemize conceptual and methodological approaches to research of cross-cultural variations in consumer behavior; to present an extended understanding of consumer behavior in related industries; to identify conceptual and methodological gaps and empirical issues in these studies; and by fulfilling the objective of this paper to develop an agenda guiding further research ...

Das Museum und die Enthistorisierung der Kunstgeschichte
(Hirmer, 2014)
Jahrhunderts eingetreten waren. Jahrhundertelang vernachlässigte Künstler waren plötzlich in den Fokus ...

On the track of human errors - Procedure and results of an innovative assembly planning method
(2018-03-07)
Manual assembly operations are the endmost place of the production process and with it represent a melting pot for organizational, time-related and qualitative errors of manufacturing. Because competitive advantages are increasingly determined in the manual assembly, the creation of economical and reliable work steps is of fundamental importance for future business success. For that reason, at the institute of the authors, a procedure has been developed to use the knowledge of the Expert System for Task Taxonomy that ...

Effect of heat treatment and iron content on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a secondary Al-Si-Cu alloy
(2019-05)
In this work the effect of heat treatments on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a secondary Al-Si-Cu alloy is studied. A Design of Experiments (DoE) was developed in order to optimize the heat treatment parameters and analyze the dissolution and fragmentation of the iron-rich inclusions as well as the improvement of the mechanical properties by non-equilibrium heat treatments. The iron-rich intermetallic inclusions were characterized as-cast and after heat treatment both by two-dimensional metallography ...

Accelerating Entrepreneurial Decision-Making Through Hybrid Intelligence
(2020)
Purpose: Previous studies revealed that around 75 percent of all start-ups fail at an early stage. One main reason for this tremendous failure rate is that entrepreneurs are typically confronted with high levels of uncertainty about the viability of their proposed business idea. Following this argumentation, entrepreneurial decision-making can be defined as complex decision-making problem under both risk and uncertainty. While risk includes quantifiable probabilities, uncertainty describes situations where neither ...

Goal realization: An empirically based comparison between English, German and Greek
(2018)
Drawing upon recent insights into the role of Goal preference as reflector of cross-linguistic differences, this paper investigates the factors affecting the realization of Goals in motion event descriptions. In particular, it examines the interplay between the lexicalization pattern of a language, on the one hand, and grammatical viewpoint aspect, on the other – factors which have commonly been treated in isolation. In so doing, three typologically distinct languages were examined: English, German and Greek. The ...

How digitalization changes the internationalization of entrepreneurial firms: theoretical considerations and empirical evidence
(2018)
The internationalization of firms has mainly been analyzed and explained by considering observations in a pre-digital business environment. Thus, the applicability of the internationalization theories to digital ways of conducting business needs to be challenged. Recent research on the internationalization of digital firms attempts to adapt existing international business literature to the digital market. However, these studies consider internet-based companies predominantly as a homogeneous group. It is a popular ...

Dependency Grammar and Valency Theory
(Oxford University Press, 2010)
The best way to introduce a reader to dependency grammar (DG) and valency theory (VT) - both come out of the same research tradition - is to present the syntactic theory of Lucien Tesniere, which is still relevant today (section 10.1). In the following sections we will give an overview of the development, current state, and possible future concerns first of VT (section 10.2), then of DG (section 10.3). However, this chapter can only give a rough outline of DG and VT; a comprehensive research overview can be found in ...

Symbolic versus non-symbolic magnitude estimations among children and adults
(2014-07-30)
The ability of children and adults to generate symbolic and non-symbolic magnitude estimations was examined in the light of their familiarity with numbers. Children (6-year-old kindergartners, 7-year-old first graders, and 9-year-old third graders) and adults made symbolic estimations either by saying number words that matched numbers of dots (i.e., perception task) or by generating numbers of dots that matched given number words (i.e., production task). In the non-symbolic estimation task, participants generated the ...
