Functional Analysis of Src42A in embryonic epithelial morphogenesis of Drosophila melanogaster
(2023)
Src42A is one of the Src family kinases (SFKs) present in Drosophila melanogaster. In mammals there are 8 SFKs and so far, a loss of function analysis of SFKs were difficult to conduct due to their functional redundancy. In Drosophila, there are only two SFKs namely Src42A and Src64B, the former is essential for embryonic development and the latter is a non-essential gene. Since Src42A is supplied as a maternal component, the zygotic mutant were showing defects in later developmental stages, because the contribution ...

Eine Philologie der Denkformen für Indien und Europa: Sanskrit-Sūtras und Semiotik in den Cultural Studies
(2023-12)

Patterns of Practice - Interdisciplinary Negotiation of Cultural Complexity through Practice-Based Methods in Informatics
(2022)
Following the principle of knowing through making, this thesis discusses development and application of a practice-based methodology for construction of digital artefacts within
cultural contexts. It addresses the epistemological diversity and complexity inhering within interdisciplinary projects, suggesting methodological devices able to navigate the variegated disciplinary landscape present within respective development projects. The conceptual pair complexity/complication acts as theoretical point of reference ...

The Implications of Feedback Frequency for Employee Creativity
(2022)
Managers are still floundering when they have to decide on the optimal level of feedback frequency; either when they consider themselves as a source of feedback, but also when they shape the feedback environment of their employees, e.g., by allowing more (or less) frequent customer feedback. Furthermore, given that feedback is a time-consuming task, managers might be reluctant to provide feedback frequently, foregoing a potentially powerful lever for increasing employee creativity. Ultimately, clarifying the ambiguities ...

Ordoliberalism and the Making of the Economic Constitution: State, Law, and Money in the Market Economy
(2023)
The aim of my research is to explore the political economy of ordoliberalism in its historical trajectory. Beginning from the years of its inception during the interwar period, the dissertation focuses on the specific conditions and political economy of the Weimar Republic as the framework within which the ordoliberal framework was developed. Moving on to the postwar period, the dissertation examines the attempts of operationalization of the ordoliberal framework within the context of West Germany and the social ...

Biases im Planungsprozess
(2023)

Diffusion of Material Flow Cost Accounting and its Contribution to Sustainable Development
(2022)
This thesis aims to analyze how further take-up of Material Flow Cost Accounting (MFCA) in practice can be encouraged to support sustainable development. To achieve the aim of the thesis, three studies on MFCA are conducted at multiple levels. The first study provides a better understanding of MFCA application at the corporate level in developing countries, which are characterized by rapid structure transformation leading to serious environmental problems. The second study considers the contextual and transformational ...

Assessment of the variation of marbling and intramuscular fat content of beef, and validation of possible factors to increase sensory beef quality
(2021-11)
This thesis focuses on the intramuscular fat content (IMF) or the marbling of beef as main parameters of sensory beef quality. The aim is to identify the high variability of these traits and to verify possible influences such as genetics, age, gender and feeding strategies to increase marbling.
The first part of this research focuses on the variation of quality traits within a genetically homogeneous line of an endangered German beef cattle breed “Rotes Höhenvieh” (RHV). The intramuscular fat content of beef samples ...

Algorithms for Emotion Recognition
(2023)
Technological advancements have increasingly facilitated emotion recognition through physiological sensors integrated into intelligent devices, such as earables and wristbands. People commonly wear these devices in their everyday lives (i.e., in the wild). Patterns can be extracted from various physiological signals, enabling the recognition of emotions. This capability can be integrated into diverse applications, such as attention management systems, human-robot interaction, and stress detection, enhancing them to ...
