Influence Of The Fiber-Matrix-Interaction On The Fracture Behavior Of Regenerated Cellulose Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene
(Society of Plastics Engineers, 2017)
This investigation focuses on the fiber-matrix-interaction of man-made cellulose fibers (RCF) in a PP matrix with an additional MAPP content using an energetic evaluation of the single fiber pull-out test (SFPT). Furthermore glass fibers were characterized for reference purposes. With the SFPT the interfacial shear strength (IFFS) and the critical fiber length (lc) as well as the consumed energy of a fiber pull-out and a fiber rupture were determined. In a following step the resulting values of lc were related to the ...

The Adhesion of LSR Thermoplastic Composites after Storage Tests
(Society of Plastics Engineers, 2017)
The adhesion properties of liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and different thermoplastics (PC, PA, and PP) were examined in this investigation. In order to guarantee the adhesion of both components, an activation (silicatization) of the TP surface, which is a conventional method, was carried out. Furthermore, the long-term stability of the silicatization (storage of the activated surfaces) as well as the wetting behavior were investigated. Moreover, microscopic investigations were performed to analyze the activated ...

Prädiktive simulationsgestützte Optimierung von Kältemaschinen im Verbund
(kassel university press, 2017)
Prerequisite for an efficient cooling energy system is the knowledge and the optimal combination of different operating conditions of individual compression chillers. The performance of cooling systems depending on its part load performance and its condensing temperature are often unknown. Recorded energy data remains unused and manufacturers' data differs significantly from the real performance. For this purpose, manufacturer and real data are combined and continuously adapted to form partial load curve models. A ...

Structured Eyetracking-based Requirements Validation with the Help of Virtual Prototypes
(INEGI/Faculdade de Engenharia Universidade do Porto, 2017)
Customer requirements form the basis of every product development project. Incomplete requirements and lack of involvement of customers are the main factors for the failure of a product at the buyer's market (Hull et al. 2011). The Quality Function Deployment (QFD) describes a common method for translating customer requirements into product features. For this purpose, the QFD provides various matrices for the prioritization and quantification of the requirements, through the various phases of the product development. ...

Fabrication and characterization of ethylene–octene copolymer composites with ionic liquid functionalized carbon nanotubes
(2017-10-16)
Modification of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) by means of imidazolium ionic liquid (IL) was performed. Structural characterization of funtionalized nanofillers (IL-f-MWCNTs) was made by means of Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. MWCNTs and IL-f-MWCNTs were introduced within ethylene octane copolymer (EOC) with octene co-monomer content of 17% by using the masterbatch approach. The efficiency of the carbonaceous nanofiller distribution within the polymer matrix was characterized by means ...

Jede ...

Crack path predictions in fiber reinforced composites
(2017-09-06)
Composite materials exhibit beneficial features compared to conventional engineering material, e.g. a comparable strength and a reduced weight at the same time. To fully exploit these beneficial properties within technical structures, fracture mechanical concepts must be taken into account. The global fracture behavior in composite materials is related to the local delamination at interfaces between matrix and inclusion as well as the local fracture behaviors of the constituents. Because of their structure, the global ...

An extended constitutive model for nonlinear reversible ferromagnetic behaviour under magnetomechanical multiaxial loading conditions
(2017-02-01)
A constitutive modelling of ferromagnetic materials under combined magnetomechanical multiaxial loading with different boundary conditions and a finite element implementation are presented. The phenomenologically motivated model is capable of predicting magnetisation, strain, and stress and is thus suitable, e.g., for applications in multiferroic composites. The approach covers a reversible nonlinear behaviour as it is observed, e.g., in cobalt ferrite and other soft magnetic alloys. Various examples demonstrate the ...

Grundsatzfragen der Abwärmenutzung
(2017-04)

Optimal energy supply structures for industrial food processing sites in different countries considering energy transitions
(2017-05-10)
This study focuses on analysing the most energy efficient utility system supply structure in terms of carbon emissions, primary energy efficiency and energy costs. In the German food processing industry, the state-of-the-art technologies in the utility supply structure are a gas fired steam boiler for steam generation and ammonia chillers for chilled water generation. Low investment costs and its durability are attractive for industrial production sites. But, given the ongoing energy transition to renewable energy, ...
