Experimental and numerical Investigations of Tracer- and Density- dependent Transport in highly stochastic heterogeneous porous Media and Evaluation of transverse Macrodispersion
(2017-11-27)

Climate Change Impact Assessment of Basin-scale Water Allocation and Management in the Karkheh River Basin, Iran
(2018-09-21)
Hydrological research is intended to improve our understanding of hydrologic processes, the role of hydrological systems in providing water for ecosystems and society, and of the water cycle in the functioning of the earth system. The proper understanding of the hydrology of arid and semi-arid regions is becoming increasingly important, due to diminishing projections of water resource availability in response to global environmental changes. The main objective of this thesis study is to investigate the development ...

3D Simultaneous Inversion for Seismic Structure and Local Hypocenters in Germany under Consideration of Seismic Anisotropy in the Upper Mantel
(2010-10-20)
The main task of this work has been to investigate the effects of anisotropy onto the propagation of seismic waves along the Upper Mantle below Germany and adjacent areas.
Refraction- and reflexion seismic experiments proved the existence of Upper Mantle anisotropy and its influence onto the propagation of Pn-waves.
By the 3D tomographic investigations that have been done here for the crust and the upper mantle, considering the influence of anisotropy, a gap for the investigations in Europe has been closed.

Downscaling and Modeling the Effects of Climate Change on Hydrology and Water Resources in the Upper Blue Nile River Basin, Ethiopia
(2013-05-17)
The Upper Blue Nile River Basin (UBNRB) located in the western part of Ethiopia, between 7° 45’ and 12° 45’N and 34° 05’ and 39° 45’E has a total area of 174962 km2 . More than 80% of the population in the basin is engaged in agricultural activities. Because of the particularly dry climate in the basin, likewise to most other regions of Ethiopia, the agricultural productivity depends to a very large extent on the occurrence of the seasonal rains. This situation makes agriculture highly vulnerable to the impact of ...
