Existence and Regularity Results of a Ferroelectric Phase-Field Model
(2019)
In this thesis, we investigate the existence and regularity results of a ferroelectric phase-field model, which is a state-of-the-art model arising in recent years from the engineering area for the ferroelectric study.

No Chaos in Dixon's System
(2020)
The so-called Dixon system is often cited as an example of a two-dimensional (continuous) dynamical system that exhibits chaotic behaviour, if its two parameters take their value in a certain domain. We provide first a rigorous proof that there is no chaos in Dixon's system. Then we perform a complete bifurcation analysis of the system showing that the parameter space can be decomposed into sixteen different regions in each of which the system exhibits qualitatively the same behaviour. In particular, we prove that ...

The Navier-Stokes equations with time discretisation and Lagrangian approximation
(2018)
In the present thesis, we combine the Navier-Stokes equations - which correspond to the so-called Eulerian representation of fluid flow - with the Lagrangian description of fluid flow.

Estimators and Tests based on Likelihood-Depth with Application to Weibull Distribution, Gaussian and Gumbel Copula
(2010-10-12)

Numerical Methods for the Unsteady Compressible Navier-Stokes Equations
(2013-01-30)
We consider numerical methods for the compressible time dependent Navier-Stokes equations, discussing the spatial discretization by Finite Volume and Discontinuous Galerkin methods, the time integration by time adaptive implicit Runge-Kutta and Rosenbrock methods and the solution of the appearing nonlinear and linear equations systems by preconditioned Jacobian-Free Newton-Krylov, as well as Multigrid methods. As applications, thermal Fluid structure interaction and other unsteady flow problems are considered. The ...

Zur Approximation der Gleichungen von Navier-Stokes
(2011-06-14)

Time Discretization of the SST-generalized Navier-Stokes Equations: Positive and Negative Results
(2014-11-28)
In the theory of the Navier-Stokes equations, the proofs of some basic known results, like for example the uniqueness of solutions to the stationary Navier-Stokes equations under smallness assumptions on the data or the stability of certain time discretization schemes, actually only use a small range of properties and are therefore valid in a more general context. This observation leads us to introduce the concept of SST spaces, a generalization of the functional setting for the Navier-Stokes equations. It allows us ...
