Effects of task interruptions caused by notifications from communication applications on strain and performance

Objectives:
To examine the effect of automatic communication notifications on performance and strain. Because of the benefits of communication, we expected this effect to be moderated by fear of missing out (FoMO) and social norms of responsiveness, expressed in the experience of telepressure.
Methods:
A field experiment (N = 247) was conducted in which participants in the experimental group disabled their notification during 1 day (N = 124).

A Stability Analysis of Modified Patankar–Runge–Kutta methods for a nonlinear Production–Destruction System

Modified Patankar–Runge–Kutta (MPRK) methods preserve the positivity as well as conservativity of a production–destruction system (PDS) of ordinary differential equations for all time step sizes. As a result, higher order MPRK schemes do not belong to the class of general linear methods, i. e. the iterates are generated by a nonlinear map g even when the PDS is linear. Hybrid modeling of viscoelastic and switching–induced heating in ferroelectrics

This contribution focuses on two effects causing a temperature change in electrically loaded ferroelectrics. These materials are often subjected to cyclic loading, where viscoelasticity prevails at lower electric fields, whereas dissipative heating by domain switching dominates above the coercive field.
