Taste masking in vegan food processing with natural substitutes
(2022-12-29)
Climate change, sustainability issues, increased risks of meat diet on both ecology and human health cause changes in the eating habits of individuals. Plant-based foods supply protein sources with health-promoting compounds. The bitterness of plant-based foods is a challenge for both food manufacturers and consumers. So far, artificial taste blockers, salt, sugar, and fat have been applied to mask the bitterness of plant-based products. However, people are conscious of "clean labelling " and "natural " ingredients ...

The potential of cabbage waste extract as a bio-stimulant for enhancing growth, biochemical constituents, and oil quality of thyme (Thymus vulgaris)
(2022-12-29)
Thyme (Thymus vulgaris L.) is an important cultural aromatic plant, whose herb and essential oils (EOs) have been used in many industrial and medicinal applications. Herb and EO yields are often negatively influenced by various factors, so it is important to keep finding new growing procedures that increase the quantitative content of herbs and EOs. Therefore, this paper is focused on the effects of applying cabbage extract (CE) at different concentrations on morphological parameters, mineral contents, total ...

Physiological response of some canola genotypes to proline concentration under saltwater irrigation conditions
(2022-12-29)
A pot experiment was conducted in split-split plot design with four replications to study proline foliar application with 0, 50, and 100 ppm and four canola genotypes cultivated under irrigation of tap water and salinity irrigation water at 4500 ppm and their interactive effects on growth characters, yield, and yield components and some chemical composition of the canola plants. Results indicated that a higher salinity level at 4500 ppm reduced growth, photosynthetic pigments, yield, and yield attributes as well as ...

The effects of weather factors on titrating acids accumulation in sweet cherry fruits
(2022-12-29)
During the fruit formation, the weather conditions have a decisive influence on the organic acids accumulation. In the context of global climate change, this issue has become new. The study of the titrated acids content in sweet cherry fruits was carried out for 12 years. Cherry fruits of three ripening groups were selected for the study. The average and strong correlation dependence between 11 weather factors and the titrated acids content for the sweet cherries varieties of early, middle, late ripening periods were ...

Capturing Emergent Semantics from Social Annotation Systems
(2013-02-26)
The ongoing growth of the World Wide Web, catalyzed by the increasing possibility of ubiquitous access via a variety of devices, continues to strengthen its role as our prevalent information and commmunication medium. However, although tools like search engines facilitate retrieval, the task of finally making sense of Web content is still often left to human interpretation. The vision of supporting both humans and machines in such knowledge-based activities led to the development of different systems which allow to ...

Interatomic Coulombic decay in noble gas clusters of varying sizes investigated by photon-induced (dispersed) fluorescence spectrometry
(2018-06-06)
The main topic of this thesis is to study experimentally an ultrafast and efficient non radiative mechanism – the well-known interatomic Coulombic decay (ICD) – in noble gas clusters by employing fluorescence spectrometry technique in combination with synchrotron radiation. Using Neon clusters as prototype systems, a special variety of ICD, termed resonant ICD (RICD), has been investigated by a selective excitation of one component of the cluster and for different mean cluster sizes. The first part of the thesis was ...

Semantic web mining
(2006)
Semantic Web Mining aims at combining the two fast-developing research areas Semantic Web and Web Mining. This survey analyzes the convergence of trends from both areas: an increasing number of researchers is working on improving the results of Web Mining by exploiting semantic structures in the Web, and they make use of Web Mining techniques for building the Semantic Web. Last but not least, these techniques can be used for mining the Semantic Web itself. The Semantic Web is the second-generation WWW, enriched by ...

Molecular effects on the cross section for pair production and their importance in the evaluation of the total photonuclear cross section of {^16}O in the {\delta-resonance} region
(1988)
The screening correction to the coherent pair-production cross section on the oxygen molecule has been calculated using self-consistent relativistic wave functions for the one-center and two-center
Coulomb potentials. It is shown that the modification of the wave function due to molecular binding and the interference between contributions from the two atoms have both sizeable effects on the screening correction. The so-obtained coherent pair-production cross section which makes up the largest part of the total atomic ...

Slave-boson approach to the size-dependent transition from van der Waals to covalent bonding in Hg_n clusters
(1994)
We use a microscopic theory to describe the dynamics of the valence electrons in divalent-metal clusters. The theory is based on a many-body model Harniltonian H which takes into account, on the same electronic level, the van der Waals and the covalent bonding. In order to study the ground-state properties of H we have developed an extended slave-boson method. We have studied the bonding character and the degree of electronic delocalization in Hg_n clusters as a function of cluster size. Results show that, for ...

Verfassungsrechtliche Analyse der Modernisierung des Besteuerungsverfahrens
(2023)
Große Teile des „Gesetz[es] zur Modernisierung des Besteuerungsverfahrens“ traten am 1. Januar 2017 in Kraft. Mit diesem Gesetz wollte der Gesetzgeber eine Zeitenwende im steuerlichen Verfahrensrecht einläuten, indem er die seit langem in der Verwaltungspraxis verwendete Möglichkeit, Verwaltungsakte ausschließlich automationsgestützt zu erlassen, erstmals gesetzlich regelte. Kernstück dieses Gesetzgebungspaketes ist die erstmalige gesetzliche Regelung eines Risikomanagementsystems zur Prüfung von Steuererklärungen.
