Entrepreneurial Coaching: A Two‐Dimensional Framework in Context
(2020-05-08)
Coaching is increasingly used to support entrepreneurs across different stages of the entrepreneurial process. Due to its custom‐tailored, active, and reflection‐oriented approach, it has been suggested that it is particularly well suited to entrepreneurs’ complex job demands. However, in the entrepreneurial context, the term coaching lacks a clear definition and is frequently used interchangeably with other types of support. We therefore sought to characterize entrepreneurial coaching (EC) and to position it relative ...

How does self-employment affect pension income? A comparative analysis of European welfare states
(2020-12-03)
The characteristics of self-employment in Europe have changed profoundly in the last decades. The share of solo self-employment has grown and individuals combine more frequently dependent employment with self-employment at the same time, or more often switch between dependent employment and self-employment. These developments heavily affect the pensions of the self-employed and therefore present a challenge for the old-age security systems of European welfare states. So far, there has been little comparative research ...

Sustainable Development Goal Drivers in Food Systems
(2021-06-29)
Interacting driving forces in food systems, resulting in cumulative driver effects and synergies, induce non-linear processes in multiple directions. This paper critically reviews the discourse on driving forces in food systems and argues that mindset is the primary predictor for food system outcomes. In the epoch of sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the Anthropocene, mindset matters more than ever. Transformative narratives are beginning to transcend the dominant social paradigm, which is still driving the ...

Psychosocial Interventions for Newly Arrived Adolescent Refugees: A Systematic Review
(2020-02-25)
Adolescent refugees are confronted with multiple developmental, psychological, and social challenges after flight. Psychosocial interventions are therefore necessary to support adolescents during the first period after arrival in a receiving country and to avoid negative long-term consequences. Unfortunately, little is known about the types and the effects of such interventions provided during this time. This systematic review aimed to synthesize research about psychosocial interventions for refugee youth during the ...

Freundschaften, Symmetrien und Markierungen von Differenz
(2021-06-03)

Human–Elephant Conflict in Sri Lanka: A Critical Review of Causal Explanations
(2021-08-02)
Human–elephant conflict (HEC) is a severe and much-debated issue in Sri Lanka. An average of two hundred animals are intentionally killed, and seventy to eighty human casualties are counted each year. The Sri Lankan elephant (Elephas maximus maximus) is an endangered subspecies. The reported elephant mortality rates are high. On the other hand, human–elephant conflict also leads to hardship and trauma among rural populations. This research paper reviews causal explanations for HEC in Sri Lanka, tracing underlying ...

Flexible Adaptation of Leader Behavior
(2021-06-01)
Based on the model of ambidextrous leadership, we investigated the impact of flexible adaptation of leader behavior, that is, opening and closing leader behaviors, on innovative performance in a laboratory experiment. Leader behaviors were manipulated with confederates attending to one participant showing either no leadership, a sequential, or a flexible application of opening and closing leader behaviors. We hypothesized that flexible adaptation leads to better innovation performance. N = 93 participants took part ...

So near, so far, so what is social distancing? A fundamental ontological account of a mobile place brand
(2020-09-30)
This paper offers a social phenomenological reading of the globally binding practice of ‘social distancing’ in light of the precautionary measures against the spreading of the Covid-19 virus. Amid speculation about the far-reaching effects of temporarily applicable measures and foresights about the advent of an ethos that has been heralded by the media as the ‘new normal’, the ubiquitous phenomenon of social distancing calls for a fundamental ontological elucidation. The purported hermeneutic that is situated in the ...
