Application of check-all-that-apply (CATA) in sensory profile assessment of arabica dark roast and black pepper mixed coffee
(2021-11-29)
Black pepper coffee is one of the developing innovations in Bangka Belitung Province, Indonesia. This study aimed to assess black pepper coffee's sensory profile using the CATA (check-all-that-apply) rapid analysis method and find the formula and brewing technique most consumers liked. The study consisted of two stages: determining the sensory attributes of black pepper coffee and taking sensory data from coffee consumers with coffee and black pepper powder ratios (98:2; 96:4; and 94:6) and brewing methods (cold brew, ...

Agricultural risk assessment to enhance the food systems of the Mbororo minority community in the Northwest region of Cameroon
(2021-10-29)
Increasing population pressure, coupled with the effects of climate change manifested by longer dry seasons, wildfires, and conflicts, threatens the food systems of minority communities. In the case of the Mbororo minority community of Northwest Region of Cameroon, these threats are exacerbated by already existing problems of marginalisation. Significado y efectos de sentido. El gérondif francés en el contexto románico
(2021)

Determinants of Willingness to Pay (WTP) for organic fertiliser: a case of smallholder potato farmers in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
(2021-12-01)
The South African smallholder sector is characterised by relatively low productivity due to persistent deterioration in soil fertility owing to declining organic matter and other essential soil nutrients. Consequently, adoption of sustainable agricultural inputs like organic fertiliser is essential. Although there is sufficient advocacy in the adoption of organic fertiliser, the economic linkage between farmers' socioeconomic factors and willingness to pay (WTP) remains under-explored. This study investigated the ...

Rainfall erosivity, soil erodibility and natural water erosion potential in the Huambo region, Angola
(2021-12-06)
The use of erosion assessment methods is critical for the sustainability of land use in tropical and subtropical regions, especially in countries lacking national information on soil erosion development, which is the case of Angola. This study aimed to evaluate the rainfall erosivity (R), soil erodibility (K), soil loss tolerance (T) and natural erosion potential (NEP) in Huambo (Angola). The R value estimated for a 25-year period was 7463 MJ·mm·ha-¹·h-¹·y-¹. K values estimated from 25 soil profiles, described in the ...

Living and Planning on the Edge: Unravelling Conflict and Claim-Making in Peri-Urban Lahore, Pakistan
(2021-05-25)
In Lahore, Pakistan’s second largest city, high population growth rates, decades of rural-urban migration, and rampant land and real-estate speculation have contributed to the rapid urbanization of peri-urban land and the engulfing of pre-existing rural settlements. Application of non-linear models in description of growth of dual purpose FUNAAB Alpha chickens
(2021-08-03)
Growth is explained mathematically by models that have parameters with biological interpretations. This study was conducted to compare five non-linear growth models (Gompertz, Brody, Logistics, Von Bertalanffy and Negative exponential) in order to describe growth in the three genotypes (normal feather, naked neck and frizzle feather) of the dual purpose FUNAAB Alpha chickens (n=332). Doesn’t Use Derivative iterative method of nonlinear procedure in SAS was used to estimate the model parameters. Computational difficultly, ...
