Prädiktive simulationsgestützte Optimierung von Kältemaschinen im Verbund
(kassel university press, 2017)
Prerequisite for an efficient cooling energy system is the knowledge and the optimal combination of different operating conditions of individual compression chillers. The performance of cooling systems depending on its part load performance and its condensing temperature are often unknown. Recorded energy data remains unused and manufacturers' data differs significantly from the real performance. For this purpose, manufacturer and real data are combined and continuously adapted to form partial load curve models. A ...

Solar fractions of SHIP plants considering the availability of roof area based on OpenStreetMap data
(2022-02-04)
Solar heat for industrial processes (SHIP) can be a key technology to decarbonize the industrial heat demand world-wide. Several national studies use either a bottom-up or a top-down-approach to assess the potential of solar process heat using estimated fixed solar fractions. Due to limited area available for the installation of solar collectors and the reasonality of the load profile, this solar fraction cannot be achieved in all cases. To address this limitation, another estimated factor is used in those studies. ...

Constitutive modeling of nonlinear reversible and irreversible ferromagnetic behaviors and application to multiferroic composites
(2016-03-10)
The coupling of magnetic and mechanical fields due to the constitutive behavior of a material is commonly denoted as magnetostrictive effect. The latter is only observed with large coupling coefficients in ferromagnetic materials, where coupling is caused by the rotation of the domains as a result of magnetic (Joule effect) or mechanical (Villari effect) loads.
However, only a few elements (e.g. Fe, Ni, Co, and Mn) and their compositions exhibit such a behavior. In this article, the constitutive modeling of nonlinear ...

Mixed-mode crack tip loading and crack deflection in 1D quasicrystals
(2016)
Quasicrystals (QC) are a new class of materials besides crystals and amorphous solids and have aroused much attention of researchers since they were discovered. This paper presents a generalized fracture theory including the J-integral and crack closure integrals, relations between J1, J2 and the stress intensity factors as well as the implementation of the near-tip stress and displacement solutions of 1D QC. Different crack deflection criteria, i.e. the J-integral and maximum circumferential stress criteria, are ...

Integration of Heat Pump Storage Systems in Manufacturing Systems via Data Farming and Monte Carlo Simulation
(2019)
The electrification of industrial energy demand is essential for effective climate protection and a successful energy transition. In production systems with fluctuating heating and cooling demands, heat pumps can make a significant contribution to electrification and increased efficiency in a demand-oriented production with automated standby operation. In order to dimension a suitable heat pump storage system, well-founded statistical information about the production system is required. For the creation of stochastic ...

Analyse der Prognosestreuung bei der Bewertung der menschlichen Zuverlässigkeit mit der MTQM-Methode in der Bearbeitung von Aluminiumleichtbauteilen
(2020)

Reference applications for renewable heat
(2021-01-25)
There is a high degree of freedom and flexibility in the way to integrate renewable process heat in industrial processes. Nearly in every industrial or commercial application various heat sinks can be found, which are suitable to be supplied by renewable heat, e.g. from solar thermal, heat pumps, biomass or others. But in contrast to conventional fossil fuel powered heating systems, most renewable heating technologies are more sensitive to the requirements defined by the specific demand of the industrial company. ...

Simulation-based optimization of solar thermal systems
(2018)
In this PhD thesis application of numerical methods to simulation-based optimization of solar thermal systems both in the planning process and in operation is investigated. The optimization process starting from definition of a target function and specification of optimization parameters, moving forward with application of an optimization algorithm and ending up by sensitivity analysis at the found optimum, is described in detail. A hybrid genetic CHC – binary search algorithm is proposed and applied. As a combination ...

Structured Eyetracking-based Requirements Validation with the Help of Virtual Prototypes
(INEGI/Faculdade de Engenharia Universidade do Porto, 2017)
Customer requirements form the basis of every product development project. Incomplete requirements and lack of involvement of customers are the main factors for the failure of a product at the buyer's market (Hull et al. 2011). The Quality Function Deployment (QFD) describes a common method for translating customer requirements into product features. For this purpose, the QFD provides various matrices for the prioritization and quantification of the requirements, through the various phases of the product development. ...
