Insect specimens of adult beetles and larvae of 7–9 and 9–10 mm length, respectively were collected from infested dry cassava at two locations from multiple stores in southern Ethiopia. The specimens were identified as Heterobostrychus brunneus (Murray, 1867) commonly known as boxwood borer and auger beetle. Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous and landlocked Central Asian country, one of five former Soviet Republics in the region. Agriculture is the main economic sector employing around 20% of population and contributing roughly 20% to the country’s GDP. Due to its climatic conditions, the Central Asian region was considered as a space for growing cotton, wheat, fruits and vegetables and tobacco and other cultures during Soviet times. Owing to its nomadic culture, Kyrgyzstan has been active predominantly in the animal husbandry sector.

Using Grass Cuttings from Sports Fields for Anaerobic Digestion and Combustion

Sports fields provide a recreation space for citizens, but also generate grass biomass, which is cut weekly during the main seasons and therefore could be used in energy generation (combustion or anaerobic digestion).
